According to the post by Alastair Hadden, “My Google Home Max arrived today. Initial setup was fine, everything was working (Assistant, streaming services), but then my Wi-Fi network went down, which required a hard restart of modem and router to fix. It took it going down a few more times for me to realize the Max was causing it; whenever I tried to stream radio or Spotify, the Wi-Fi died and had to be restarted.”
As noted by Android Police, this seems to be the same issue caused by the Nexus Player that was reported a few months ago. Note that this isn’t affecting every user or every modem/router out there. Instead it seems to be more consistent with users who are using the TP-Link Archer C7.
The good news is that according to a response from a Google rep, the company is aware of the complaints and are looking into the issue. When exactly it will be fixed remains to be seen, but if you are experiencing disconnections and you have the Google Home Max, there’s a chance that it could be the culprit.
