GE today announced two new products from its C by GE line of smart lighting products. It has introduced a new smart ceiling light and light switch. Why they might look like any other smart product of their kind, they actually offer functionality that you wouldn’t expect from a product like this. Both the ceiling light and the light switch can let you control the Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants.
GE’s new smart ceiling light looks like a disk with a speaker in the middle. It’s designed to be the main light in a room. It has support for voice controls and feedback so users can talk to it and get answers from either Alexa or Google Assistant. It can be used to control smart home gadgets and even play music.
All of the same features are also present on the smart light switch that GE has introduced today. Since it’s an in-wall switch, it can easily control any non-smart light bulb as well. The light switch also has temperature, motion, and humidity sensors built-in.
Both products have built-in hubs which can be used to control other C by GE products. The company has also said that it’s going to add support for Apple HomeKit to its portfolio.
GE has only teased both products today. It hasn’t confirmed precisely when they will be released and how much they will cost. The company will be releasing these products through the course of this year.
