The way streaming services separate themselves from each other is through their catalogue and also through exclusives, such as how Netflix has their own original shows which is one of ways to help draw in subscribers. Now it looks like Hulu might have one-up on its competitors as NBC’s “ER” is now an exclusive to the platform.
For those unfamiliar, ER could be considered “the” hospital TV show before other hospital dramas were aired on TV. It also helped various stars launch even bigger careers, such as George Clooney, and while the series has long come to an end, those with Hulu subscriptions can now rewatch all 15 seasons and more than 330 episodes.
In a statement issued by Clooney about ER now being available on Hulu, “It was such an honor to be a part of this show. I was lucky to have worked with so many writers, actors and directors all at the top of their game. Most importantly I’ve made friends for a lifetime. I’m excited it will finally be streaming on Hulu.” That being said, this deal is no doubt also good news for Disney who had previously held a 30% stake in Hulu, but their acquisition of Fox means that their stake has since increased to 60%.
