Last year Netflix launched an animated series based on Konami’s Castlevania franchise. While it was very well-received, it was unfortunate in the sense that it only featured four episodes in the season, meaning that viewers could quickly blow through the entire season in a little over an hour.
Thankfully Netflix confirmed a second and longer season would be coming, and the good news is that according to Castlevania’s writer Warren Ellis, he has confirmed on Twitter that the series will be making a return this coming summer where instead of four short episodes, the second reason will run for eight episodes instead.
FAQ: people keep asking, so I guess word didn't get around? We're coming back this summer, for eight episodes, from @Netflix. pic.twitter.com/HckIke4REI

However Ellis did not mention when specifically during the summer the second season will return, so we guess we’ll just have to wait until Netflix announces more specific dates, but for now we guess a summer timeframe is what we have to work with. The series is written by Ellis and also sees contributions from Adventure Time’s Kevin Kolde.
Adi Shankar will also be the person producing the series, where it also stars Richard Armitage as Trevor Belmont, James Callis as Alucard, Graham McTavish as Dracula, and Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha Belnades. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information for when the season returns, so check back with us in the near future for more updates.
