At CES 2018 this year, the company unveiled the latest version of the device which they’re calling the 3dRudder Blackhawk. According to the company, “The 3dRudder Blackhawk represents the next evolution in the product line and offers a newly redesigned device providing added functionalities. It fully really takes the space limitations out of the room-scale VR experience. Users control their motion intuitively with their feet while sitting, leaving the hands free to grab hand controllers and maximize the immersion while playing games.”
One of the new features that they are introducing is an “Active Dead Zone” which can automatically adjust reactivity and stability depending on the movement direction and speed of the user. It also comes with built-in LEDs to help provide indication of the state of the device, as well as foot strap bindings which was a feature missing from the original. The bindings will help make it easier for users to keep their feet in place.
For developers or gamers who are interested in testing out the feature, the 3dRudder Blackhawk is priced at $139 and will be available via the company’s website starting this Spring.
