According to the report, Apple is said to be planning on launching a new 13-inch MacBook this year that will replace the MacBook Air. This is based on Apple’s supplier General Interface Solution who is said to land more orders for an entry-level 13-inch MacBook. Apple introduced the 12-inch MacBook back in 2015 and has kept its size, making it a happy middle between the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air.
However the MacBook Air is the only laptop in Apple’s lineup that does not have a Retina display, at least not by today’s standards, which means that save for the slight bump and upgrade in the processor department, the MacBook Air would be considered relatively out of date.
If the rumors are true about an entry-level 13-inch MacBook, that means that at least for this year, that will be the only new computer Apple could announce (unless Apple launches a new Mac Pro). This is because an earlier report said that Apple might not introduce major MacBook Pro upgrades this year. Either way take it with a grain of salt, but perhaps we’ll learn more at WWDC 2018.
