Now it seems that UPS is looking to convert more of its fleet into electric trucks as the company has recently announced that they have pre-ordered 125 Tesla Semi electric trucks. For those unfamiliar, the Semi is an electric truck that Tesla officially announced last month. UPS will not be the first to use their trucks as other companies such as Walmart are also looking into use the Semi in their operations.
According to Juan Perez, chief information and engineering officer, “For more than a century, UPS has led the industry in testing and implementing new technologies for more efficient fleet operations. We look forward to expanding further our commitment to fleet excellence with Tesla. These groundbreaking electric tractors are poised to usher in a new era in improved safety, reduced environmental impact, and reduced cost of ownership.”
This isn’t the first time that UPS is looking to go green, as the company had last month announced that some of their diesel trucks will be converted into electric trucks for delivery in the NYC area.
