For the most part, Tesla’s offerings have largely been cars, at least until recently where Tesla unveiled the Semi electric truck. However the good news for those who have need for a vehicle larger than a car, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has confirmed via Twitter that the company will be building an electric pickup truck in the future.
According to Musk’s tweet, the pickup truck will be built after the Model Y. “I promise that we will make a pickup truck right after Model Y. Have had the core design/engineering elements in my mind for almost 5 years. Am dying to build it.” For those unfamiliar, the Model Y has been teased for a while now and is a crossover vehicle that is expected to arrive between 2019 and 2020.

What this means is that Tesla’s pickup truck is only expected to arrive after that, so customers holding out for an electric pickup truck will have to wait until then, or possibly even later given that there could be unforeseen delays. However we suppose it also means that customers will have more time to save for it.
It’s probably too early to tell what kind of features Tesla’s pickup truck could come with, or what it could even look like, but based on past Tesla designs we can imagine that it will look pretty futuristic.
