According to the reports, users are claiming to be experiencing spontaneous access point reboots, crashes, and intermittent connection issues when connected to mesh network access points. So far one of the routers that seems to be associated with this problem is Netgear’s Orbi routers, although it has been noted that there are also reports from users using Cisco or eero devices.
In a post by Google Community Manager Orrin, the company is currently looking into the issue. “We’ve been seeing a few reports (reddit, etc) of WiFi randomly disconnecting on the Pixel 2. Looks like the majority of the reports are from users that have mentioned they have a mesh network set up. If you are experiencing this, can you post more information here? If possible, please include what access points you are using, how many mesh nodes you have, and any other info about the disconnects (how frequently, after certain activities, etc).”
No word on when a potential fix might be released, so until then we guess users will have to remain patient, or perhaps if possible, go back to a non-mesh network first.
