Oreo-Based Oxygen OS 5.0 For OnePlus 5 Finally Released
The OnePlus 5 is finally receiving its Android 8.0 Oreo update. A beta program was already underway and the company has now confirmed that the Android 8.0 Oreo-based firmware update is rolling out for the OnePlus 5 starting today. Oxygen OS 5.0 is now rolling out for the OnePlus 5.
It was confirmed by OnePlus earlier today that it has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo-based Oxygen OS 5.0 for the OnePlus 5. The latest firmware update brings a plethora of new features for supported devices as well as the latest security patches.
Users will notice a new camera UI design, optimizations for photo quality, and a new effect for Portrait Mode. The Launcher receives optimizations for Shelf. Users can also upload their photo now through Shot on OnePlus.
The firmware adds a Parallel Apps feature, new design for quick settings and Lift up display, optimizations for Wi-Fi and battery saver as well as adaptive model screen calibration.
The firmware update has started rolling out today for the OnePlus 5. It weighs in at around 1.6GB so it would be wise to connect to a Wi-Fi network before downloading the update.
OnePlus is rolling it out over-the-air so it’s going to take a while before the Oxygen OS 5.0 update for the OnePlus 5 becomes available in all regions across the globe.
