Galaxy Note 8’s OIS Beats Out The Competition In Comparison Video

These days when it comes to flagship phones, not only are these devices expected to sport dual camera lenses and a Portrait Mode feature, but they are also expected to come with image stabilization technology, whether it be electronic or optical. However not all stabilization tech is made equal, as demonstrated in the video below.

This video was recorded by Engadget’s Evan Rodgers (via 9to5Google) in the publication’s testing of smartphone cameras, in which they tested four different phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, iPhone X, Pixel 2, and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. As you can see in the video below, it is clear that the Note 8’s image stabilization tech is the winner.

From the video, it seems that save for the Note 8 and to a certain extent the Pixel 2, the other phones appear to struggle rather obviously with stabilization. While the rattling and shaking of a train is obviously different from recording while walking, it seems that whatever tech Samsung employed is working miracles as it barely appears to shake at all.

That being said, walking around is a slightly different story as Engadget points out that the Note 8 seems to have some kind of weird jelly-like effect, at least compared to the Pixel 2 and iPhone X, both of which perform slightly better under more “normal” circumstances.
