So from what we can tell based on Nintendo’s official announcement, is that the Nintendo Switch is a success, selling 10 million units worldwide in less than a year. This is why it doesn’t really come as a complete surprise to learn that over in South Korea, the Switch is doing pretty well for itself as well.
According to a post on Reset Era (via Nintendo Everything), it is reported that in South Korea, the Nintendo Switch sold more than 55,000 units in just three days. This beat out the likes of other Nintendo product launches, like the Nintendo DS, 3DS, and even the Wii which was considered one of Nintendo’s success stories.
Apparently it not only beat the first week launches, but also the month sales as well of the devices. Note that unlike most markets around the world, the Switch was not made available in South Korea at launch, and that it had only launched earlier this month, which meant that they had to wait a good 9 months.
However it seems that despite having to wait nearly a year, gamers in Korea appear to be pretty enthusiastic about the console, if the sales figures are anything to go on.
