According to Netflix, “We are thrilled to announce the addition of High Dynamic Range (HDR) support on Windows 10 for both the Edge browser and the Netflix app. With this update, Netflix members who have a supported device and a premium plan can enjoy amazing Netflix movies and shows in HDR.”
Prior to this, Netflix already support 4K and HDR content, although it was limited to the Microsoft Xbox platform. For Netflix users on Windows 10 who really want to take advantage of this you’ll either have to stream content via the Edge browser or through the UWP app. That being said, it should be noted that most of the HDR content on Netflix is limited to the company’s original shows.
This means that if you watch a lot of Netflix’s original content then you will be able to take advantage of this, but if you tend to stream other shows more or from time to time, you might notice the differences, but hopefully it won’t be too obvious.
