Using any piece of software fully and properly is a skill of its own. In fact some are so well-versed with certain pieces of software that they can go above and beyond what one would normally expect. For example we’ve seen how the humble Paint app bundled with Windows has resulted in some breathtaking art pieces.
However over in Japan, 77-year old Tatsuo Horiuchi is going a rather unconventional route by using Microsoft Excel. In the video above by Great Big Story, it shows how Horiuchi comes up with his stunning art pieces using the spreadsheet software. According to the narration, it seems that the reason for choosing Excel was because Horiuchi did not want to pay for painting software, and instead chose to use what was already on his computer.
The end results are nothing short of spectacular and if you did not know any better, you would have assumed that he used some kind of professional art software, like Photoshop, Illustrator, and so on. However we suppose having an artistic vision helps, and so does creativity in which one can find ways to come up with the desired results using the tools already available to them. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, then you’ll want to check out the mini documentary in the video above.
