Not content with just being able to list flight and hotel prices, Google has announced a couple of new features that they’ll be introducing to their Flights and Trips hotel searches, such as machine learning that studies historical data According to Google, “Using machine learning and statistical analysis of historical flights data, Flights displays tips under your search results, and you can scroll through them to figure out when it’s best to book flights.”
Hotel searches will also be affected similarly, where the system will know if there is an event going on in the area that could affect the prices of hotels. “Similarly, when you search for a hotel on Google, a new tip will appear above results when room rates are higher than usual, or if the area is busier than usual due to a holiday, music festival, or even a business conference.”
For those who want to travel and do not have any particular set dates in mind, they can then opt into Hotel Price Tracking on their phones (and desktops later). This will see Google send users an email alert for when prices of hotels drop so that they can book without potentially missing out on a deal.
