So the question is, does this apply to smartwatches too? While we’re not sure on the smartwatch front, we do know that updates are welcome especially if they bring about new functionality, and for Android Wear users, Google has upload a list of devices that are expected to receive the Android Wear update that is based on Android Oreo.
The list posted on Google’s Android Wear Help page is rather extensive, but for the most part we are noticing that the devices on the list are those that fall under Fossil’s brand, or at least the Fossil umbrella, which also plays home to brands like Diesel and Michael Kors. According to Google, the devices that should already receive the update include the Fossil Q Venture, LG Watch Sport, Louis Vuitton Tambour, Michael Kors Sofie, and the Montblanc Summit.
There are a bunch of devices that are supposed to get the update, but a release date has yet to be confirmed, but you can check out the list below to see if your device is part of it. It has been pointed out by 9to5Google that quite a few older Android Wear devices aren’t part of the list, like the LG Watch R, the original Huawei Watch, and the 2nd gen Moto 360/Sport from 2015.
