According to a post on Chinese website Digi.tech.qq.com (via SamMobile), apparently the Galaxy S9 could feature a 3,200mAh battery. There is no mention of the Galaxy S9+, but presumably it will be larger, but exactly by how much remains to be seen. What this means is that if the report is true, the Galaxy S9’s battery will only be 200mAh bigger than its predecessor, which isn’t really that much.
200mAh probably wouldn’t make much of a difference considering the phone will be powered by the latest hardware, although we had previously heard that the new Exynos 9810 chipset is expected to be 15% more power efficient, so perhaps there could be a noticeable difference, but don’t take our word for it.
That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Galaxy S9’s battery wasn’t that much bigger. We had heard that Samsung was planning on keeping the design similar to the Galaxy S8, which means that there isn’t much space for a physically larger battery, but take it with a grain of salt for now and hopefully we’ll have the official details soon enough.
