In an email sent to Mashable, Thielke claims that based on the company’s findings, Apple has apparently shipped 34.4 million Apple Watches to date since its release in 2015. He claims that this means that Apple accounts for a little over half of all smartwatches ever shipped. “Apple has shipped 34.4 million smartwatches worldwide since it entered the category in 2015. In other words, Apple accounts for 51.6 percent of all smartwatches ever shipped.”
That being said, we should advise you to take those numbers with a grain of salt. This is because ever since the Apple Watch has been released, Apple has yet to offer up an official figure in terms of shipments, units sold, and how much money they’ve made from it. At the same time, this isn’t the first time that we are hearing about the Apple Watch’s dominance in the wearable industry.
Apple recently launched the Apple Watch Series 3, which is the 3rd-gen Apple Watch released so far. One of the key changes, which appears to have sat well with many based on reviews, is the addition of LTE support, where Apple Watch users no longer need to be tethered to their iPhone.
