The report is claiming that Apple has inked a deal with Ronald D. Moore in which Moore will be creating a sci-fi TV series for the Cupertino company. For those unfamiliar, Moore is the showrunner for Starz series “Outlander” and had previously helped develop the new version of “Battlestar Galactica”, and has also worked on other sci-fi series like “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” and “Star Trek: Voyager.”
The new series will be created by Moore together with Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, with the series being produced by Sony and Tall Ship Productions. So far Apple’s video efforts haven’t exactly been particularly huge hits. “Carpool Karaoke” was basically established before Apple bought the rights to it, and based on reviews so far, “Planet of the Apps” hasn’t exactly been well-received.
However given Moore’s experience and work on other sci-fi series, hopefully this latest effort will yield some fruit. No word on when the series will be launched, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information.
