Android Oreo Beta For LG G6, G6 Plus Rolling Out In China

Recently you might have heard that over in South Korea, LG has begun rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG V30, which is the second LG flagship phone for 2017. So what about LG’s first flagship for 2017, the LG G6? The good news is that it appears that LG has not forgotten about its G6 or G6 Plus owners.

According to a posting on a Chinese forum (via Android Central), it appears that LG has begun rolling out the Android Oreo beta for LG G6 and G6 Plus users. Note that this is the beta which means that not everyone might have access to it, and it is also possible that there could be some bugs left that LG has yet to discover, hence the beta testing.

However we can assume that the fact that the beta is being pushed out to more users is a sign that LG is confident that the update is good enough, at least so far. At the moment it appears that the beta is limited to China (based on current reports), but we expect that it will eventually be released to other markets, and the final release should also be not too far behind, we hope.

That being said, LG is rumored to announce a new phone in January which some are speculating could be the LG G7, but for those not planning on upgrading anytime soon, hopefully the Oreo update will help keep things fresh for a while.
