Microsoft confirmed several weeks ago that it will enable Xbox One owners to gift games to each other. This feature went live recently for members of the Xbox Insiders program. With the holiday season just around the corner, Microsoft has now launched this feature for all. Anyone with an Xbox One can now use its game gifting feature.
Microsoft has previously revealed that the ability to gift games digitally was one of the most frequently requested features by the Xbox One community. The company heard the feedback and decided to develop this feature.
Mike Ybarra, the corporate vice president of Xbox and Windows gaming at Microsoft, has confirmed via Twitter that the Xbox One game gifting feature is now available to everyone just in time for the holidays.
Xbox One owners can gift games via the Microsoft Store. They can buy the titles without having to worry about regions. It’s a quick and easy way to gift someone a title without even having to get up off your couch.
Even though Microsoft is allowing customers to purchase new games to gift to their friends and family, it’s not allowing gamers to transfer a game that they already own to someone else as a gift.
PlayStation 4 owners might be feeling a bit left out following this announcement, given that Sony still doesn’t allow game gifting on the PS4.
