Back in 2015, Blizzard announced the Legion expansion for World of Warcraft, and now two years later, gamers who are still hankering for more World of Warcraft content will be pleased to learn that the game’s latest expansion has been announced in the form of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.
This expansion marks the seventh expansion for the MMORPG since it was launched, and while Legion introduced new worlds to the game, the Battle for Azeroth expansion appears to be focusing more on Azeroth as well as bringing the game’s story back to its core of the Alliance versus the Horde.
According to Blizzard, “In Battle for Azeroth, the fall of the Burning Legion has set off a series of disastrous incidents that reignites the furious rivalry between the noble Alliance and the mighty Horde. As a new age of warfare begins, Azeroth’s heroes must set out on a harrowing journey in search of new allies, race to claim the world’s mightiest resources to turn the tides of war, and fight on several fronts to determine which side will lead Azeroth into its uncertain future.”
The expansion will introduce what Blizzard are calling Allied Races which are basically different factions of existing races that players can play as once they have been unlocked. There will also be new explorable zones in the form of Kul Tiras and Zandalar, new PVP maps, new dungeons, raids, and also raising of the level cap to 120.
As it stands there is no release date set for the expansion, but given what we’ve seen from past releases, it will be in 2018 that we can expect to play it. In the meantime you can check out the cinematic trailer and features overview videos above.
