Glasses maker Warby Parker has recently updated its iOS app with a new feature that takes advantage of the iPhone X’s TrueDepth camera. Initially spotted by The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern (via iMore), this new feature will use the TrueDepth camera and facial recognition system to help suggest frames that might suit you.
This isn’t exactly a new feature per se as glasses makers in the past have released apps that allow users to overlay frames on their faces to get an idea of how it will look. However those probably aren’t as accurate as using the TrueDepth camera. The only shortcoming of this particular feature is that you can’t use the TrueDepth camera to “try” on the frames after it has been suggested to you, which is rather odd since it is a rather obvious thing to have been included.
In any case it is still a pretty nifty feature so if you want to get some frames suggestions without having to leave your house, then head on over to the iTunes App Store to download the Warby Parker app.
