SteamVR Games For Windows Mixed Reality Available From November 15th

Microsoft has confirmed that its Windows Mixed Reality platform is going to get access to SteamVR games starting November 15th. The SteamVR preview program for Windows Mixed Reality is only open to developers currently and it’s going to be opened up to everyone later this month. Those who own a headset will then be able to play SteamVR games.

Support for SteamVR on Windows Mixed Reality will open up the headsets to games from the Steam store. This means that headset owners will be able to access a lot more titles.

The list of content that’s available for the headsets right now is limited, it includes some 60 apps and games that are available from the Windows Store. On the other hand, many of the top VR games available now are distributed through SteamVR.

This is essentially going to be an open beta of this software which will give Microsoft the opportunity to look at the data and make tweaks as and when required. Some games might not behave as they should but that’s to be expected from any beta software.

Microsoft is yet to confirm when SteamVR support for Windows Mixed Reality will reach the end of its beta phase and will subsequently be released as a non-beta feature. It may be a couple of months before that happens.
