As you can see in the chart above, Valve recorded that the highest number of players was at 17,686,886 which is a mighty achievement indeed. Of course this number does dip and swell depending on the time of the day, plus we can only assume that Thanksgiving and Black Friday probably had a hand in that as well, where players had more time to spend gaming than they normally would.
Breaking those numbers down even further, it seems that PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) is still the most popular gaming where it peaked at 2.79 million gamers. This is followed by Dota 2 which clocked in at 814,083 gamers at its peak, followed by Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in third place.
We expect that as more games make its way onto the Steam platform, and with plenty of new titles in the works, Steam’s concurrent users will probably break that 17 million mark some time in the future.
