We’re sure that many of us have accidentally spilled drinks on our tables and onto our keyboards. Sometimes these spills are minor where the liquid won’t permanently damage our keyboards, but sometimes it can be pretty bad where it basically ruins it completely. This is where water-resistant keyboards come in handy.
For fans of Razer’s gaming keyboards, you’ll be pleased to learn that the company has recently taken the wraps off their latest BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard, in which one of the key features of the keyboard is its IP54 rating. For those unfamiliar, this means that the keyboard will be both resistant to dust and water, meaning that it should be able to handle spills without the keyboard getting damaged permanently, although we wouldn’t advise you to go dunking it underwater just to test it out.
Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, and CEO is quoted as saying, “We’ve never stopped making improvements to our gaming keyboards. The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate is now more durable than ever and our first mechanical keyboard to incorporate water- and dust-resistant features.” As for the keyboard itself, it will feature individually backlit keys in which through the Synapse software, users can customize it to their liking.
The keyboard will also feature Razer’s own mechanical switches with an estimated 80 million keystroke lifespan, 10 key roll-over anti-ghosting, a gaming mode option, fully programmable keys, and of course the IP54 rating. The new Razer BlackWidow Ultimate is priced at $110 and is available for purchase via Razer’s website.
