OnePlus 5 Oreo Update Beta Launched


OnePlus had promised to release Android 8.0 Oreo for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T a couple of months back. The company followed through on its promise recently and released the Oreo update for the aforementioned devices. The OnePlus 5 is next. While the device might be discontinued soon, the company will continue to provide software support. The OnePlus 5 Oreo beta program has now been launched by OnePlus.

The OxygenOS Open Beta program has been launched for the OnePlus 5 to give users a taste of the upcoming major Android platform update. The firmware Oreo-based beta firmware is now rolling out for OnePlus 5 owners.

OnePlus 5 owners can now join the Open Beta program and sideload the Oreo ROM on their handsets manually. The firmware brings several new features such as the picture-in-picture mode, a new quick settings design, parallel apps, and more. It even updates the security patch level to October.

The launcher has new notification dots, a new app folder design, and it’s now capable of uploading photos directly to Shot on OnePlus.

Those who are interested in trying out the beta firmware on their handsets can head over to the OnePlus website right now to get the firmware file. That’s also where they will find instructions on how to manually sideload the Oreo ROM.
