Star Wars fans who love having powerful GPUs in their machines can now combine their two passions together by splurging on NVIDIA’s new graphics cards. The company today announced the launch of its Light and Dark-Side Collector’s Edition Titan Xp cards. The two cards have been designed to fit in the Star Wars universe, with one touting bright green LEDs for the light side and the other having red LEDs to denote allegiance to the dark side.
These limited edition GPUs have been designed with hints of the Star Wars galaxy, they include hints such as the hilt of Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber and the light panels that will remind fans of the Death Star.
The Jedi Order GPU, the one with the green LEDs, simulates the wear and tear of many items that the Rebel Alliance uses. NVIDIA achieved this finish by subjecting the GPU’s die cast aluminum cover to an extensive, corrosive salt spray.
To emulate the high-end and orderly nature of the Empire, the Galactic Empire GPU has a simple finish with clean lines. Even the retail boxes have different colors, white for the light and black for the dark side.
The GPUs are based on NVIDIA’s Pascal-based Titan Xp architecture. They tout 3,840 CUDA cores running at 1.6GHz. There’s also 12GB of GDDR5X memory running at 11.4Gbps.
Those who are interested can pre-order the GPUs starting tomorrow from NVIDIA’s store. They’re priced at $1,200 each and will be released in mid-November.
