Many iPhone fans are not happy about that notch in the iPhone X display. It’s a necessary evil for Apple as the notch houses all of the important components required for the Face ID facial recognition technology. If you don’t like it at all and want to do away with it, there’s an app for that.
An app called Notch Remover has been approved by Apple and it’s available for download from the App Store. As the name suggests, that app can be used to digitally remove the notch.
The app is obviously not able to change anything at the hardware level so the notch is always going to be there. It just fills in the area around the notch so that it feels more like the existing iPhones.
What the Notch Remover app does is add a black bar across the tops of images. Those images have to be assigned as wallpapers in the settings menu. This results in a single black status bar that’s similar to what we’ve seen on almost every single iPhone.
The Notch Remover app is now available for download from the App Store. It’s not free though. Then again, if you bought a $1,000 iPhone X, you might as well buy the $0.99 app.
