The update was originally scheduled for the fall of 2017, but it is pretty obvious that is no longer happening and Microsoft has since confirmed that the graphics upgrade would be delayed. “We also want to update you on the Super Duper Graphics pack. While originally set for release this year, there’s a lot of work to be done still and we’re not going to be ready to launch it in 2017. We’ll be releasing Super Duper next year, and we’ll have more information for you here on Minecraft.net soon.”
In addition to the graphics upgrade being delayed, Microsoft has also announced that the cross-platform compatibility for the Nintendo Switch would also be delayed. “Nintendo has been a great partner and we’re really excited to fully bring Switch players into the fold, however, we need to make sure we deliver the best experience possible. So the new version of Minecraft will now be coming to Nintendo Switch next year.”
This is rather unfortunate but we guess better the features be delayed rather than released and it’s a mess. No specific dates in 2018 that we can expect, but Microsoft will probably share those details at a later date.
