While Snapchat’s Stories isn’t exactly a flop, in fact it seems to be doing quite well, it looks like Facebook might be having much better success with it. In a report from TechCrunch, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that both Instagram Stories and WhatsApp Status both now have 300 million daily active users. This is compared to Snapchat whose own daily active users is around 173 million, and presumably not all of them use the Stories feature either.
The jump to 300 million is a 50 million increase from earlier this year in July, where Instagram announced that its Stories feature had 250 million daily active users. In recent times we’ve seen various improvements and changes made to the features, such as being able to go on Instagram Live together with a friend, or being able to share Instagram Stories simultaneously on Facebook.
We expect that over time Facebook will be giving both Instagram and WhatsApp more features to help expand on the popularity of Stories and Status, plus potentially draw in more advertisers looking to capitalize on all those eyeballs.
