Netflix recently confirmed that the sixth season of its hit original series House of Cards will be its last season. Fans of the show have been looking forward to the new season that’s due next year. However, the House of Cards season 6 release is now uncertain as the company as suspended production indefinitely.
Netflix decided to pull the plug on House of Cards following allegations of sexual harassment against the lead actor Kevin Spacey. It has now confirmed that production of the MRC-produced series has now been suspended indefinitely.
“MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew,” Netflix and MRC confirmed in a joint statement.
House of Cards season six has been in production in the Baltimore metro area. It was expected to consist of 13 episodes and while Netflix hasn’t confirmed a release date, it would have likely been released in mid-2018.
Whether or not this suspension is going to end up pushing the release date forward remains to be seen. It’s not even clear at this point in time if Netflix is going to can the series altogether. Fans will certainly hope that it doesn’t. They’d want to see at least one last season before House of Cards fades into oblivion.
