It’s not terribly efficient, but that’s how it is right now. However it seems that has changed with Google Home, with some noticing that the smart speaker will now be able to support multiple commands at once – two to be specific. As CNET points out, this means that you can ask Google Home to turn on the TV and ask for the weather at the same time, as opposed to one after the other.
Note that this is not the Routines feature that was announced last month. For those unfamiliar, Routines is a feature announced at Google’s Pixel 2 event in October, where it’s sort of like a macro of commands where a single voice command, such as “Good morning”, can set off a chain of commands, like opening the blinds, adjusting the thermostat, getting the coffee brewing, and so on (assuming they’re all connected).
Right now it seems that the amount of commands you can string together at once is limited to two. We’re not sure if there are plans to expand beyond that, but we suppose two is plenty, at least until Routines has rolled out.
