The listing on Google Play has since been taken down, but the app was marked as “unreleased” and appears to be part of an early access program, which apparently is now full so users who want to take part in it can’t, not unless Google decides to open up a few more spots or makes the app officially available for all.
That being said, as you can see from the screenshots above, the app is rather basic and straightforward in terms of use. It lets users see the files on their phone, such as photos, videos, audio, and even allows them to clear their app cache to free up storage space. It has been suggested that Files Go might be a files manager app designed for emerging markets, where smartphones are usually released with low storage capacities as one of the ways to cut down on costs.
Whether or not it will eventually be available to all Android users remains to be seen, but we’ll keep an eye out for it.
