While online shopping is no doubt more convenient, it can be a bit of a hit and miss when it comes to clothes, as sometimes what’s advertised on a website might be different in cutting or fit when it arrives, then customers will have to deal with getting it resized or sending it back. This is why sometimes trying on clothes before buying is always a good idea.
However it seems that fashion retailer American Eagle wants to make the process a bit more hi-tech. In a report from Business Insider, the retailer has recently launched a new store in Manhattan, New York, where iPads are installed throughout the store, where some iPads will show customers how certain jeans will look like, while the other iPads are placed inside of the dressing rooms.
These iPads in the dressing rooms will allow shoppers to call for attendants remotely, and also edit their choices on the fly, meaning that you could get someone to bring in an item that you want to try instead of having to go out and find it yourself. It also seems that salespeople will be equipped with mobile point-of-sale devices, which means that if you like what you’ve just tried on, you can pay for it right there and then in the dressing room and walk right out.
American Eagle is also allowing customers to order items in the store and having it shipped to them if their size is not available.
