However that is slowly changing as Amazon has announced that they will be launching Alexa and their Echo speakers in Australia and New Zealand. According to Amazon, “Today, we’re excited to announce Amazon Alexa and Alexa-enabled devices are coming to Australia and New Zealand in early 2018. This will open up new opportunities for developers in Australia, New Zealand, and worldwide to build for Alexa and reach customers through voice-first experiences using the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) and the Alexa Voice Service (AVS).”
Amazon also announced that the Alexa Skills Kit will be available starting from today, while the Alexa Voice Service will be coming soon. All of this means that local developers in Australia and New Zealand can start planning skills that they can use with Alexa, and so can local companies. The launch in Australia and New Zealand makes sense, especially when you consider that an earlier report suggested that Amazon was getting ready to launch in Australia (an official launch date has yet to be set).
