As you can see in the photo above, this is one heck of a cute robot, but it is more than just looks because it comes with a sentry mode where through the accompanying mobile app, users will be able to set up designated zones/areas in which the robots can patrol. On top of that, users will also be able to store up to three faces in each robot, so that when the robot detects a face it does not recognize, it will warn users.
We don’t suggest that you use these robots for home security purposes as we can’t speak to its reliability, but its facial recognition and patrolling feature seem to be more more novel if anything, and a pretty cool feature for a toy. The best part is that perhaps following some controversy in which UBTECH’s previous robots were found to not encrypt the data it stores, these new robots are completely offline which means that there will be no data sent to a server anywhere, and it also reduces the potential for it to be hacked remotely.
Unfortunately the robot does not come cheap at $300, but if you don’t mind the price tag, then you can head on over to UBTECH’s website for the details where the robot is expected to begin shipping out in November.
