The toys children play with these days is definitely very, very different from what many of us were used to back in the day. These days many toys come with accompanying apps and QR codes for additional downloads, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise that even plushies are getting a hi-tech makeover.
Meet Parker, a teddy bear created by Seedling that the company claims is the world’s first AR teddy bear, and it is also going to be available for purchase exclusively from Apple. For parents who might be concerned about such a hi-tech toy and what kind of privacy risks it might pose, fret not because the bear itself does not come with any electronic components.
Instead it seems that when used together with the accompanying app on an iPhone or iPad, it can be brought to life virtually as you can see in the video above. The bear will come bundled with accessories like medicine, an x-ray bib, and a toy stethoscope which kids can use to “treat” the bear from various ailments.
Essentially it seems like Parker has been designed as a way to show off and leverage Apple’s recently launched ARKit. As for pricing, Parker will be priced at $60 and if you are interested, head on over to Apple’s website to purchase it.
