This comes from a tweet by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei who posted on Twitter a photo taken by what can only be presumed to be the OnePlus 5T. Now the OnePlus 5 has a feature called Portrait Mode which is similar to what other phones, like the iPhone 7 Plus, offer to its users, where it mimics the effect of a shallow depth of field that separates from the foreground subject from the background.

It’s hard to tell based on just one photo alone, but we have to admit that if we did not know that this was taken by a smartphone, one could have easily assumed that it was taken by a dedicated camera, like a DSLR with a portrait lens. The separation effect between foreground and background in this particular photo is pretty good, and assuming that the OnePlus 5T will feature improved portrait mode, that’s definitely something to look forward to.
According to the rumors, OnePlus is expected to host an event on the 16th of November. Apart from Pei tweeting out hints and teasers, nothing official has been announced yet, but we expect it won’t be too long until we get more information.
