The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be officially announced next year following the release of the Note 8 which was announced several months ago. It is probably too early to tell what kind of specs and features we can expect, but Kuo believes that an under-display fingerprint sensor is one of them.
If this sounds familiar, it is because Samsung has reportedly been trying to get the technology to work for their phones this year, but apparently haven’t been successful. It is unclear if the tech might skip the Galaxy S9 in favor of the Note 9, so that remains to be seen. This is actually not the first time we’ve heard such rumors, and it is interesting because in an earlier research note, Kuo suggested that more Android handset makers were ditching the idea following Apple’s launch of Face ID.
In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do guys think? Is facial recognition the way of the future or do you think fingerprint scanning is going to continue being the mainstay in mobile security for the foreseeable future?
