Nokia 9 Could Arrive In The US In Place Of The Nokia 8

A couple of months ago, HMD Global announced the Nokia 8 smartphone. This is the flagship smartphone of the Nokia-branded devices and it was later suggested that the handset could be coming to the US in different variations. However it seems that might no longer be the case, and while it does sound like bad news, it might not necessarily be.

In a report from NokiaPowerUser, it seems that the US market might be skipping the Nokia 8 and get the Nokia 9 instead. We have been hearing rumors that a Nokia 9 could be in the works, with alleged renders of the handset leaking just recently. Apparently HMD is not looking to bring its entire portfolio to the US, and will instead target the US market with a few phones at different price points, with the Nokia 9 clearly being aimed at the higher-end of the market.

HMD has yet to officially announce the Nokia 9, but like we said this is not the first time we are hearing about the smartphone, so if this report does turn out to be true it wouldn’t be the most surprising. Based on the rumors so far, the Nokia 9 is said to feature an edgeless 3D glass display and will be offered in 6/8GB RAM variants, 128GB of storage, IP68 certification, and could also come with an iris scanner.

As for the processor, we suppose it wouldn’t be a stretch to think it might use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset which is what all the flagship phones of 2017 are using. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
