‘Made For Google’ Partner Program Will Reportedly Be Launched Soon

If a new report is to be believed, Google is working on a “Made for Google” certification program for third-party accessory manufacturers. It’s assumed that the program will function in a manner similar to Apple’s MFi or Made for I certification program for accessory manufacturers. Apple provides partners with documentation, hardware components, tools, and technical support. Manufacturers can then promote their products with Apple’s certification logos. Perhaps Google will offer similar support to its partners.

Citing two sources familiar with the initiative, 9to5Google reports that Google is working on a Made for Google certification program. The scribe has also heard the same from a third source that the program is being prepared for an announcement soon.

If such a program is being prepared, we’re likely going to hear about it later this week. Google is going to conduct a hardware event on October 4th to unveil its new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones.

If the program is launched alongside the company’s new hardware products, this could mean that we’ll get to see certified accessories for Google’s new hardware products at the event. The accessories might include certified battery packs, chargers, cases, docks, and more.

Google hasn’t confirmed or denied this as yet so nothing is set in stone. We’ll have more clarity on the matter later this week.
