The home button has been pretty much synonymous with the iPhone and it’s easily identified in photos and drawings even without any other discernible features. However the removal of the home button meant that Apple had to get creative with how users interacted with the handset, such as how they switch apps. Thanks to a recent video that found its way online, we can now see the iPhone X’s app switcher in action.

We should point out that the app switching gesture was demonstrated on stage during Apple’s presentation. However it was admittedly a bit of a controlled demonstration so for those wondering about how it will handle in real life, this video should more than clue you in. So far from what we can tell, it looks smooth as heck.
It will probably need some getting used to, especially users looking to swap between apps and go back to the home screen. Even on Android devices without a physical home button, they were still presented with soft keys, making the iPhone X’s gestures quite rare amongst smartphones, but we suppose we will have to wait for its release to tell if users will react favorably to the gestures.
