HBO wasn’t able to keep all of season 7 a secret as it had to deal with cyberattacks that led to some leaks. The cable giant now has now measures in place to prevent Game of Thrones season 8 leaks. It’s the show’s final season and one that’s being anxiously awaited by tens of millions of fans across the globe. A new report details the measures that HBO has taken to ensure there are no leaks.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the actor who plays Jamie Lannister on the show, recently revealed that HBO is going to extreme lengths to prevent Game of Thrones season 8 leaks.
He mentioned that during the first few seasons, actors were sent hard copies of the script in advance. HBO later introduced new security measures and only distributed the scripts on digital files, it eventually came to the point where actors would only get their parts through verified email.
Coster-Waldau says that the security for the final season is greater than ever before. That’s understandable, given that HBO had to deal with stolen season 7 files. HBO isn’t even giving scripts to the actors.
Actors are actually equipped with earpieces in each scene and they’re given their dialogues line by line. They only find out about their fate in the final season when they show up on set for filming and not a moment before.
Talk about being paranoid, but HBO is operating on the idea that it’s better to be safe than sorry, and I’m sure that fans who hate spoilers will be happy that it’s taking extreme measures to prevent Game of Thrones season 8 leaks.
