In a recent teardown of the APK for the Google app, some evidence has been found to suggest that Google will still have a pair of headphones that they could announced. The device is referenced as “Google Earphones” in the APK, and while it doesn’t mention any details, the name itself is pretty revealing. Then there are also new strings mentioning “Bisto”, which is the codename for the earphones that Google is said to be working on.
Once again details are scarce, but it makes mention of features like “smart detection”, and the ability to pause music when the earphones are taken out of the wearer’s ears. Google is expected to hold an event on the 4th of October, which is tomorrow, in which they will be announcing new Pixel handsets.
The event is also expected to unveil other Google devices like the Google Home Mini, a redesigned Google Daydream View headset, and a new Pixelbook laptop, but it is possible that these headphones could be announced as well. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us tomorrow for the details.
