Gigabyte announced a new laptop today that’s really going to appeal to serious gamers. The company has thrown in some “world’s thinnest” and “world’s first” buzzwords in the press release for good measure. While the angular look of the gaming laptop might not appeal to all customers, the hardware specs are as serious as they come.
According to the company, the Aorus X9 is the world’s thinnest 17.3 inch laptop with a mechanical keyboard and quad cooling fans. It’s also said to be the first SLI laptop of its size. Gigabyte says that this is the world’s first laptop with a multifunctional RGB lightbar and chassis RGB lighting.
The gaming laptop is powered by the 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7820HK overclockable processor with up to 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD and 1TB hard drive. It has a 17.3 inch 3840×2160 IPS anti-glare display, 2X speakers and 2X woofers, and a multifunctional RGB HUD lightbar and chassis RGB Fusion Lighting.
The defining feature is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GDDR5 8GB+8GB SLI graphics card for extreme performance. According to the company, this is the thinnest SLI laptop that’s available on the market now.
Two configurations will be available for purchase in the United States. The one with 512GB SSD and 1TB hardware costs $3,649 while the one with 2x512GB SSDs is a Newegg exclusive and costs $3,799. All configurations come with Windows 10 out of the box.
