For those who feels that this is a bit unfair, you can rest assured knowing that those who got their hands on the early release will not be able to play the game just yet. In a report from Charlie Intel, it seems that the game will not be playable until players download the day one patch. This means that even though you can launch the game, you won’t be able to access any of its features until the patch is downloaded, which will be released on launch day itself.
This seems to also affect single-player mode, not just multiplayer, but we guess that makes sense since we’re sure that Sledgehammer Games probably doesn’t want those gamers to give away any clues or spoilers for the game ahead of its release. We’re not sure if this was intentional by design or if it was a happy coincidence, but either way it all kind of works out.
However it does highlight the fact that you will need to be connected to the internet on day one just to download the patch, so if you were hoping to stay offline, maybe not.
