BMW Z8 Owned By Steve Jobs To Fetch $400,000 At Auction

Items of historical significance or association with highly regarded people tend to fetch insane amounts when they’re auctioned. Take this BMW Z8 convertible for example. It was once owned by Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs. It’s going to be auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York this December. The car is expected to fetch up to $400,000 at the auction.

It may end up fetching even more, depending on how badly the bidders want to get their hands on it. The auction listing mentions that Jobs had a “penchant for German automobiles and design.

It goes to describe a tale that Jobs was actually persuaded to buy the Z8 luxury convertible by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison in 2000. He was able to convince Jobs that the car not only matched Apple’s products and Jobs’s psyche, but was also a high-quality product.

Jobs reportedly kept this car for three years before selling it to someone in Los Angeles who later sold it to a “Bay Area tech executive.” The car itself is in good condition and even though it has been driven regularly for 17 years, it only has 15,200 miles on the clock.

This car is going to go under the hammer at Sotheby’s on December 6th. Back in the day, it used to cost $128,000 before options. The car’s history of being owned by Steve Jobs, widely regarded as one of the revolutionaries of the tech industry, is what’s going to fetch it $400,000 at auction.
