According to the figures, Android 7.0 Nougat which is last year’s update actually saw an increase where it went from 15.8% to 17.8% from the previous month. As for the rest of the Android versions, they all appear to be dropping slowly over time, although in this day and age it is still surprising to see that Android Gingerbread is still clinging on at 0.6%. We have to wonder how many more months or even years before we see it drop off the charts.
That being said, Android 8.0 Oreo’s distribution figures don’t really come as a surprise. After all one of the drawbacks of Android is that major updates tend to take a while to reach devices, that is unless you use a Pixel or Nexus smartphone. We expect that the numbers should see a jump pretty soon as many companies are working on the Oreo update with plans to release them in the next few months or so.
In the meantime Nougat will probably continue to rise for a bit before we see Oreo start to take over, although we wonder if Oreo will be able to surpass Nougat’s distribution this time next year.
