Many local businesses have relied on WhatsApp to conduct business for years. After all, it is the world’s most popular cross-platform messaging service. Over the past few months, there have been indications that the Facebook-owned service is getting serious about offering tailored features for businesses. WhatsApp has now highlighted some of the new tools that it’s working on for business users.
WhatsApp acknowledges that the way business is conducted on its platform right now is pretty rudimentary. One of the main issues that people have when interacting with a business on WhatsApp is that they’re unware about whether or not the business account on WhatsApp is authentic.
To remove this pain point, it has been testing verified badges for select business accounts. WhatsApp has also confirmed that it’s building and testing new tools via a free WhatsApp Business app for small companies and an enterprise solution for bigger companies like airlines, banks, and e-commerce websites.
These businesses will be able to use WhatsApp to notify customers about flight times, delivery confirmations, and more. Users will receive these notifications from verified accounts so that they are sure that the message has been received from the official source.
WhatsApp says that it will listen to the feedback during this testing phase and incorporate it. The company will keep people informed as it improves these tools and makes them widely available. It goes without saying that WhatsApp will soon begin to play a major role in this particular segment of the market.
